Collision kills Lebanon man, sends two others to hospital Near Sanford Maine
A Lebanon man is dead and two others are injured following a traffic accident on Route 202 on Tuesday evening.According to Sanford Deputy Police Chief Tim Strout, James Desaulniers, 54, of Lebanon, was killed when his Chevy pickup truck collided with a Jeep near Foothill Road.According to Sanford Fire Captain Ronald Grondin, emergency personnel got the call at 5:38 p.m. and were on the scene roughly four minutes later.The two passengers in the Jeep, a man and a woman, were injured and first-responders needed equipment to extricate them from their vehicle. Both were rushed by helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland. Grondin did not have the official status of their injuries but did describe them as “severe.”The names of the man and woman in the Jeep were not made available at press time; as a result, their conditions are not publicly known.Police shut down a long stretch of Route 202 for several hours after the accident, which remains under investigation. Motorists heading east on 202 needed to take a detour onto Route 11A, and those heading west were directed back onto Mount Hope Road.Emergency personnel cleared the scene at 10:38 p.m.
