Lusk, WY : One seriously injured in rollover crash on Thursday, July 6, 2017
A 17-year-old girl rolled her car Thursday morning and was taken to Campbell County Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Scott Templeton said the girl was driving a Suzuki passenger car westbound when she drove on the side of the highway, miscorrected and rolled over several times before being ejected from the car.
She was not wearing a seat belt. According to Templeton, the girl suffered serious injuries to her head.
“This is why wearing a seat belt is so important,” Templeton said at the scene of the crash.
Templeton said he is investigating how fast the girl was driving and if there was any foul play involved.
The crash happened about 2 miles east of Wyodak at about 8:45 a.m. The highway was closed down completely for over an hour until crews were able to open one lane of travel.
One lane of travel is open on Highway 51 from Gillette to Moorcroft. Templeton said both lanes are expected to be open about 2 p.m.
