The Asheville Police Department reports that a single vehicle crash led to fatal injuries for one victim early Saturday morning.
At about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, the Asheville Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash on the 900 block of Hendersonville Road.
Police said 28-year-old Marlaina Elizabeth Penland, of Swannanoa, was traveling southbound on Hendersonville Road in a 2004 Honda CRV when she crossed into the right side of the roadway and overturned.
Penland succumbed to her injuries at the scene, according to the report. No other injuries were reported and no other parties were involved.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
