California Township, CA : 2 killed, 7 others injured in buggy vs. truck crash on Kelly Road in California Township on Friday, 7th June 2019

Two children, ages 7 and 3, were killed and seven other family members injured when the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado struck their horse and buggy on Kelly Road in California Township just after 6 p.m. Friday.
The horse was also killed in the accident.
The pickup truck was southbound on Kelly Road, between the Hillsdale and Branch County line, when it crested the top of the hill hitting the back of the buggy which also was headed south.
According to responding officer reports, the two children were killed instantly while a mother and father, along with their five other children were lying across the roadway.
Shortly after the accident, Michigan State Police troopers began a Fatal Crash Investigation, measuring skid marks and testing the roadway’s coefficients.
Helicopters from AirCare and Samaritan transported the injured family members for treatment. LifeCare Ambulance and Fremont, Ind., Fire Department also responded to the scene.
