Two Huron residents, including an 8-year-old boy, sustained injuries in a Friday rollover crash near Woonsocket, authorities said Tuesday.

At 11:30 a.m. Friday, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 46-year-old Huron resident Curtis Crandall was traveling west on South Dakota Highway 34, about five miles east of Woonsocket, when it hit an icy spot in the roadway, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

Crandall lost control, causing the vehicle to enter the north ditch and roll.

Crandall was not injured, but an 8-year-old boy and 77-year-old Karen Anderson, both passengers in the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to a Huron hospital.

None of the vehicle's occupants was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Charges are pending against Crandall.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol investigated. Other responding agencies were the Sanborn County Sheriff's Office, Woonsocket Fire Department and Sanborn County Ambulance.
