GREENVILLE, SC : A collision involving a pedestrian in Greenville County on Saturday, September 9, 2017

The Greenville County Coroner along with SC Highway Patrol responded to a collision involving a pedestrian in Greenville County early Saturday morning.

Per troopers, the collision occurred on SC 183 at Farrs Bridge Road at approximately 5:44 a.m.

The Berea Fire and Rescue team also responded to the scene.

Coroner Kent Dill confirms one pedestrian was killed in the collision. Troopers say the pedestrian was a 40-year-old from Marietta. The coroner identified the victim as Joel Ryan Jackson.

Jackson was killed by multiple blunt force injuries. The coroner ruled his death an accident.

Troopers say a driver was traveling south on SC 183 when Jackon was crossing west on SC 183 and was struck by the driver. They said the driver did stop at the scene. The driver was wearing a seat belt and not injured in the collision, troopers say.

No charges will be filed, troopers say.

FOX Carolina spoke with Jackson's sister-in-law who wanted to share some kind words about her loved one.

"He was so fun spirited and he would give anyone the shirt off of his back. He owned a construction business called pro siding and all of his customers loved him. He will truly be missed."
