Wolcott, CT : Motorcyclist seriously injured after crashing near Wolcott trail on Wednesday, May 4, 2016
A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after losing control of his bike and crashing into a guardrail Wednesday, police said.
Shortly before 2 p.m., Shawn Lachance, 41, was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson VRSC on Munson Road, near the curve at Wolf Hill Road, when he was thrown from the motorcycle.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident. Lachance, who wasn't wearing a helmet, hit his head on the guardrail, police said. His motorcycle became pinned underneath the metal beam.
Lachance was taken to Saint Mary's Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, police said. Charges are pending.
Police said there were no pedestrians on the road, which is the near the walking trail around Scovill Reservoir. The town is planning to install speed bumps in the vicinity of the crash.
"We've had lot of pedestrian traffic in that section of the road with the walking trail, but luckily no one else was injured," Sgt. Christopher Wihbey said.
