Jacksonville, FL : Pedestrian killed, 3 injured in wrong-way crash in Northwest Jacksonville on Friday evening, February 24, 2017

A pedestrian was killed and three other men were hospitalized Friday evening following a pair of crashes about a mile apart in Northwest Jacksonville, authorities said.

Officers answering a call of a deadly crash in the 5700 block of Cleveland just after 7 p.m. determined a man was crossing the road when he was fatally struck by a northbound vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The man’s name was not released.

Minutes earlier, officers were dispatched to a crash with life-threatening injuries near New Kings Road and Edgewood Avenue. The Sheriff’s Office said that’s where a semi-truck turning west onto Edgewood collided with a sports-utility vehicle driving the wrong way.

The semi-truck’s driver and the driver and passenger in the SUV were taken to UF Health Jacksonville. Police said injuries to the SUV passenger were life-threatening.
