A man who was trying to elude police crashed his car into someone's yard early this morning, according to police.
A Portland Police officer noticed an Acura speeding by SE Woodstock St near SE 78th Ave just before 1 a.m. driving 70-80 mph. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver ran a red light at SE 72 Ave.
While speeding away the Acura almost immediately crashed into the yard of a house at SE 69th Ave. and SE Woodstock St.
Then the Acura hit a light pole near the street and rolled over into the yard of a person's home.
The driver of the car quickly surrendered to police. There was also a passenger in the vehicle was hurt and had to be taken out the car with help from the responding medical personnel.
Both the driver and passenger were taken to a local area hospital. The driver was treated and released. The passenger, who has serious injuries, was admitted to the hospital.
The driver has been identified as 34-year-old Joshua Reinhold. He was arrested on a Parole Violation, Attempt to Elude, Reckless Driving and Reckless Endangering.
