New Weston, OH : Former NASCAR driver Dave Blaney was injured violent sprint-car crash at Eldora Speedway On Friday May 6th, 2016
Former NASCAR driver Dave Blaney was hospitalized Friday night after a violent sprint-car crash in qualifying at famed Eldora Speedway.
After a CT scan revealed no fractures, Blaney, 53, was released.
During qualifying for the #LetsRaceTwo at the Rossburg, Ohio, dirt track, Blaney's car hit the wall in turns 1 and 2, and then did a series of flips. Safety workers removed Blaney from the car and sent him by ambulance to a hospital.
A social media post showed Blaney's Motter Equipment car was demolished.
Team owner Dan Motter told Fox Sports it was "a scary crash."
"I know Dave joins in thanking all the fans, friends, and media for the tremendous outpouring of love tonight," Motter said. "It was a scary crash. We want to thank the track safety crew for taking care to extricate him from the car. We are very grateful
to all."
Better known by many today as the father of NASCAR driver Ryan Blaney, the elder Blaney made 473 starts in NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series between 1992 and 2014, with four top-five and 28 top-10 finishes.
Ryan Blaney thanked fans and well-wishers Saturday morning for their support.
