Indianapolis, IN : Driver killed after semi catches fire on eastbound I-74 at Acton Road Wednesday morning, October 19, 2016

One person was killed in a fiery semi crash Wednesday morning on I-74 near Acton Road.

About 10:30 a.m., emergency responders were called to the area of I-74 eastbound near mile marker 98, according to a news release.

They found a semitrailer truck in a nearby ditch engulfed in flames. An Indianapolis Fire Department crew worked to extinguish the flames but could not locate the driver.

It was not until the flames were extinguished and the crew was able to search the wreckage that a body was found.

The Marion County coroner's office is working to identify the body, police said.

Investigators are working to determine why the truck left the road. There is no indication that another vehicle was involved in the incident.

Investigators think the semi drove off the right side of the road and burst into flames when it hit trees.
