Phoenix, AZ : Motorcycle crash shuts down Loop 202 WB at 52nd St. on Monday night, December 29, 2014
A motorcycle crash closed the westbound lanes of the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway for more than three hours Monday night, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officers said they chased the motorcyclist for five to six miles with speeds reaching more than 100 mph. They were trying to pull the driver over when the motorcycle crashed into another vehicle.
The 23-year-old motorcycle driver, who lives in Mesa, suffered a serious fracture to his wrist, according to Phoenix Fire Department Capt. Benjamin Santillan. He was taken to a local trauma center. His name wasn't released.
There were no other injuries.
