Ketchum, ID : Boise man arrested following two-vehicle accident on Saturday, 15th February, 2020
A Boise man was arrested on a felony DUI charge following a two-vehicle car accident with minimal injuries north of Ketchum on Saturday.
According to the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office, Cody Ray Grimm, 31, was driving northbound on state Highway 75 about 4 miles north of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area headquarters in a gray 2011 Audi A4 when his vehicle crossed the center line into the southbound lane.
Elisabeth A. Bartleson, 33, of Ketchum was driving a white 1997 Ford F150 truck southbound when the Audi came into her lane of travel. In response, Bartleson steered the truck toward the shoulder but was unable to avoid the collision completely. The Audi hit the rear driver’s side bumper and tire of the Ford, forcing the truck into the snowbank on the southbound shoulder and causing the driver’s side rear wheel to break off the axle of the truck during impact.
The Audi also received heavy front-end damage. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, according to sheriff. All occupants were wearing seatbelts and Bartleson and her passenger reported no injuries. Grimm was transported by ambulance to St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center, and after being medically cleared was arrested for felony DUI after giving a breath sample showing blood-alcohol concentration of 0.164 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
According to a probable-cause affidavit written by Blaine County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Reichert, Grimm had two previous DUIs, both in 2012, making this third DUI a felony offense.
Grimm is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 18, at which time the prosecutor must present sufficient evidence for the case to proceed as a felony.
