Shreveport, LA : Pedestrian died after fatal accident in west Shreveport earlier Sunday afternoon, Oct 25, 2015

Police are investigating a vehicle verses pedestrian crash that claimed the life of a female in west Shreveport earlier Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 3:35 p.m. Shreveport police responded to a major crash occurring in the 5300 block of Hearne Avenue. Upon arrival, it was learned a female pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a 1999 GMC pickup truck that was traveling north bound on Hearne Avenue. The woman was transported from the scene to University Health hospital where she died.

Shreveport Police Crash investigators were summoned to the scene of the accident, launching an immediate investigation. Preliminary information and evidence recovered at the crash site suggests the female was struck by the pickup, while attempting to cross Hearne Avenue.

The driver of the pickup truck, Jimmy Wells, 75, of Keithville, was detained at the scene of the crash. At this time, impairment on the part of the driver or pedestrian is unknown; however, toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
