Greeley, CO : Man dies in motorcycle crash in LaSalle on April, Saturday 15th 2017
One man died and a woman was taken to North Colorado Medical Center with serious injuries Saturday night after a crash in LaSalle.
The crash, involving a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle and a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, happened at 10:53 p.m. near Weld County Road 394 and 5th Street.
The motorcycle was traveling west at a high rate of speed, said Colorado State Trooper Tim Sutherland. The Hyundai was stopped at a stop sign when it began to make a left turn onto Weld 394.
The driver of the motorcycle went to brake, and the bike rotated 90 degrees, overturned on its left side and collided with the Hyundai, Sutherland said.
The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on scene and the motorcycle's female passenger was taken to the hospital. The driver of the Hyundai had minor injuries.
Excessive speed appears to be the cause of the crash, Sutherland said. No alcohol or drugs are suspected.
The names of those involved in the crash were not immediately released.
The fatality marks the 13th death on Weld County roads so far this year. Through this date last year, eight people had died.
