Allen County, IN : One person killed in single-car crash on Interstate 69 near GM plant on Monday evening, February 8, 2016

A fatal single-car crash closed an exit ramp on Interstate 69 Monday evening just after 8 p.m.

Allen County and Indiana State Police officers were responding to reports of a hit-and-run accident involving a dark Toyota that had hit another vehicle in the area of U.S. 24 and West County Line Road without stopping.

As officers responded, the driver of the Toyota, a woman, crashed into a guardrail on I-469 at the I-69 overpass, near the General Motors plant, said Allen County Police Department Capt. Steve Stone.

The woman’s car was facing southbound in northbound lanes of I-469 when police arrived, Stone said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.

Lafayette Center Road was closed for a while, as was the exit onto northbound I-469 from I-69.
