Jonesboro, AR : Man dies after moped crash on Saturday, May 7, 2016

A man has died after a crash involving a moped and an SUV Saturday in Jonesboro.

Retired Jonesboro Police Department Captain Rohnny McDaniel, 73, of Jonesboro was pronounced dead around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

McDaniel was driving the moped involved in the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe was identified as Thomas L. Wofford, 89, also of Jonesboro.

Wofford gave a sample of his blood after the crash since it involved serious injuries. He was not injured.

The crash is still under investigation, according to Paul Holmes with JPD.

Jonesboro Police Department responded to the crash on Parker Road and the Interstate 555 on-ramp around 5:30 p.m.

Holmes said Jonesboro fire crews helped McDaniel before an ambulance arrived.

He was flown to Regional One Health in Memphis, where he died Sunday morning.
