Scranton,PA : Official identifies pedestrian killed in Blakely wreck on February, Wednesday 14th 2018

A borough woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle on Main Street Wednesday evening.
Donna M. Wasilchak, 62, died of multiple traumatic injuries, county Coroner Tim Rowland said in an email.

The vehicle hit her at about 7 p.m. as she stood in the street in front of 455 Main St. in the Peckville section of the borough, police Chief Guy Salerno said. Officials declared her dead on scene.


Police closed Main Street around the site and authorities were still there after 10 p.m. Wednesday. A state police crash reconstruction unit is assisting borough police in investigating the incident, Salerno said.


Further details were not immediately available. The driver of the vehicle stopped after hitting Wasilchak, Salerno said.


It did not appear as though criminal charges would be filed stemming from the fatal collision, the chief added.
