Lubbock, TX : Two people killed and two injured when a pickup truck collided with a disabled vehicle on a highway in Lubbock early Friday morning, March 25, 2016

Two people were killed and two were injured in a crash early Friday morning in the 3900 block of Interstate 27.

Lubbock police officers responded to the scene at 12:49 a.m.

Investigators believe a 2004 Ford Mustang had a flat tire and was stopped in the right lane of southbound I-27. The driver, 20-year-old Joseph Espinoza, was fixing the flat tire when a 2004 GMC Sierra pickup truck struck Espinoza and the Mustang.

Espinoza and his front passenger, 18-year-old Mia Brittany Biera, were taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Espinoza died shortly after. Biera, who was in critical condition much of Friday, died late Friday afternoon.

The driver and passenger of the pickup suffered minor injuries.

The Lubbock Police Department Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene and was investigating the crash.
