Shreveport, LA : Driver killed in rollover crash on Terry Bradshaw Passway on Wednesday morning, November 2, 2016

Authorities have identified a Shreveport woman as the driver who died in a rollover crash as she was taking her teenage son to school the morning of Nov. 2 on Terry Bradshaw Passway.

Killed in the wreck about 8:17 a.m. on the westbound side of the passway, also known as Louisiana Highway 3132, was 47-year-old Pamela Peterson Reece, the Caddo coroner's office reports.

She was taking her 16-year-old son to school when the wreck happened.

Police say it involved 2 Ford Explorers that were traveling west on LA 3132 between Walker Road and Jewella Avenue.

Information and evidence at the scene suggest that Reece was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer that was struck from the rear by a 2013 Ford Explorer.

Reece, who was not wearing a restraint, was thrown from her vehicle as it tumbled and rolled at least twice before landing on its roof just off the shoulder of the highway, authorities said.

She suffocated when her vehicle landed atop her on the roadside, says a statement from the coroner's office.

An autopsy was performed Nov. 2.

Reece's son, who freed himself from the wreckage, was treated for minor injuries then released from the hospital.

Neither the driver of the 2013 Ford Explorer, whom police identified as 37-year-old Rita Defatta, nor the toddler who was traveling with her was injured.

Defatta was taken to a hospital to undergo toxicology testing as mandated by state law.
