Monroe, LA : Elderly driver killed in Union Parish crash on Sunday, March 12th 2017
This morning a single-vehicle crash killed an elderly man from Farmerville, LA.
Shortly after 7:50 a.m. this morning, Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle crash on West Port Union Road approximately 8 miles east of Farmerville. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 77-year-old Morris Barnhill of Farmerville, LA, was traveling east on West Port Union Road. For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the road and struck a small tree. Seatbelt use on the part of Barnhill is undetermined at this time. Barnhill was pronounced dead at the scene by the Union Parish Coroner’s Office.
Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
In 2017, Troop F has investigated 7 fatal crashes resulting in 7 deaths.
