Uintah County, UT : Farron Andrew Swiftbird, 26, injured in a rollover crash on U.S. 40 in Uintah County on Saturday, November 22, 2014
A Uintah County man suffered severe facial injuries early Saturday in a rollover crash on U.S. 40.
Farron Andrew Swiftbird, of Fort Duchesne, was about 7 miles west of Vernal when his car drifted off the right shoulder of the highway just before 2:20 a.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Brett Gehring.
The car went off an embankment and rolled twice, ending up on its roof, Gehring said.
Swiftbird, 26, was able to climb out of the demolished car and flag down another driver for help. He was taken by ambulance to Ashley Regional Medical Center and then flown to a Wasatch Front hospital due to the severity of the injuries to his face, Gehring said.
Swiftbird was wearing a seat belt and is expected to recover from the injuries he suffered, Gehring said. Troopers suspect alcohol use was a factor in the crash, he said.
