Brooklyn, NY : 66-year-old woman killed in crash along Bay 34th St. on Wednesday, Nov 18, 2015

The 66-year-old Ukraine immigrant fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Brooklyn was a “lovely” woman who doted on her disabled husband, stunned friends said Thursday.“She was very lovely ... always filled with life,” Sofiya Ostrovskaya’s neighbor Shela Blokh said, still shattered by the news of her friend’s death.“I just can’t talk ... I cannot even imagine,” she said, her voice trailing off as she recalled her friend of 25 years. “It’s not imaginable.”Ostrovskaya was crossing Cropsey Ave. at Bay 34th St. in Bath Beach when she was hit by a dark sedan about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to cops. She was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center but doctors were unable to save her.The motorist, who has not been located, blew a red light before hitting Ostrovskaya with his bumper, sending her into the air, police said.On Thursday, her disabled husband, who suffered a stroke about 15 years ago, and son were making funeral arrangements.“(We’re doing) as well as can be expected,” said Ostrovskaya’s adult son Roman Ostrovskaya.Friends said Ostrovskaya has been caring for her husband ever since he had the debilitating stroke.
