Dade City, FL : Tarpon Springs man dies in 2-car crash on U.S. 41 in southern Pasco County on Friday, April 1, 2016

A 24-year-old Tarpon Springs man died Friday in a two-car crash on U.S. 41 in southern Pasco County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Terry Dillard Jr. was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Hospital North in Tampa. Dillard was traveling south on U.S. 41 at 6:05 p.m. in a 1998 Suzuki when he was hit by a 2005 Ford sport-utility vehicle driven by Jason Lombardi, 27, of Lutz. Lombardi had been traveling east on Leonard Road, and as he crossed U.S. 41 to turn into the northbound lane, he drove into the path of Dillard’s vehicle, troopers said.

Dillard attempted to swerve out of the way, but the front end of the Suzuki collided with the left side of the Ford.

Lombardi suffered minor injuries. Charges are pending, the FHP said.
