Two people from Little Rock were killed late Sunday night when their vehicle was hit from behind by a truck on Interstate 40, authorities said.
It happened about 11:40 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near Interstate 440.
According to an Arkansas State Police report, Willetta Y. Reaves, 40, was driving a 1994 Cadillac when it was struck from behind by a 2016 Kenworth truck.
Police say the impact sent the Cadillac into the guardrail, which then caused it and the truck to overturn on the highway.
Reaves and a passenger in the Cadillac, 51-year-old Danny Joe Hollis, suffered fatal injuries.
The truck driver, whose name was not included in the report, was not injured.
Conditions at the time were described as clear and dry.
The deaths brought to 170 the number of people killed in crashes on Arkansas roads so far this year.
