Springfield, IL : Motorcyclist in accident at 11th Street and Cornell Avenue on Monday, 9th December, 2019

The Sangamon County Coroner’s Office has identified the motorcyclist who died in a two-vehicle accident at 11th Street and Cornell Avenue Monday afternoon.

Zane Feagans, 21, of Springfield, was pronounced dead at HSHS St. John’s Hospital emergency room at 4:26 p.m.

Coroner Cinda Edwards performed an autopsy Tuesday morning. In a press release, she said that the preliminary results indicated that Feagans died from injuries sustained in the accident.

Springfield Police were summoned to the scene at 3:55 p.m. Police confirmed Tuesday that the driver of the Ford Explorer was making a left turn off Cornell onto 11th Street when it collided with the motorcyclist, who was northbound on 11th Street.

Springfield Police Lt. Joseph Phillips said Monday that there were two people in the SUV. Neither was transported to the hospital, he said.

Feagans was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
