Lubbock,TX : 2 crashes turn fatal near same southwest Lubbock County intersection on December, Wednesday 13th 2017

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers were investigating two fatal crashes Wednesday evening near the same southwest Lubbock highway intersection.

The first crash - a fatal, two-vehicle, head-on collision - was reported about 6 p.m. on FM 1585 just east of U.S. 62/82, according to DPS Sgt. John Gonzalez.

He said a Ford passenger car was traveling westbound and crossed into the eastbound lane into the path of a Kia passenger car.

The driver and sole occupant of the Ford, 30-year-old Eloy Arenas of Brownfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
