DOVER, DE : Man killed in fiery crash at Dover toll plaza on Monday, 17th December 2018

State Police are investigating a Spaulding Turnpike crash that engulfed a vehicle in flames and claimed the life of a Rochester man at the Dover toll plaza early Monday morning.

Investigators are still working to determine why Justyn Tyndaal, 39, of Rochester, lost control of his 2018 Chevrolet Equinox as it approached and struck the concrete barrier near one of the plaza’s northbound E-ZPass lanes around 2:10 a.m.

“It sounds like the roads were treated just prior to the crash,” said State Police Lt. John Hennessey. “We’re confident weather and road conditions did not play a role, but we’re not ruling anything out and we’re looking at the alcohol and impairment aspect.”

Tyndaal was pronounced dead at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after he was transported there due to the serious injuries he sustained in the single-vehicle crash, according to State Police.
