Baton Rouge, LA : Morganza teen dies in head-on crash in New Roads on Thursday afternoon, August 18, 2016
A 16-year-old Morganza teen was killed Thursday afternoon after his older brother crashed head-on into another vehicle, State Police reported Friday.
The crash occurred around 3 p.m. Thursday along La. 1, just south of Hospital Road in New Roads, when the juvenile's 17-year-old brother, Harlee Doucet, was trying to pass another vehicle on the two-lane highway, Trooper 1st Class Bryan Lee said.
Doucet was traveling northbound on La. 1 in a Toyota Corolla with his brother, Nicholas Doucet, and two other juvenile passengers. He crashed into Amy Self, 46, who was traveling southbound in a Ford Expedition.
Nicholas Doucet sustained fatal injuries in the crash despite wearing a seatbelt, Lee said. His brother, Harlee, and the other two juveniles sustained moderate injuries.
Lee said Self and a juvenile passenger in her vehicle were not seriously injured.
Intoxication is not suspected, but Lee said the crash is under investigation and charges are pending.
