Longmont, CO : Weld County coroner IDs man killed in I-25 crash on Tuesday, 26th June 2018

The Weld County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed Tuesday in the crash on Interstate 25 as Philip Kent Melcher, S.M.

Melcher, 72, born in the United States, was a Catholic brother affiliated with the Compania de Maria, a Roman Catholic religious community in Lima, Peru, according to a news release from the coroner's office. He was visiting the United States at the time of the crash.

Melcher was a passenger in a northbound airport shuttle van owned by Estes Park Shuttle when it collided with a Chevy sedan while changing lanes near exit 239, according to police. The van skidded and struck a median between I-25 and the frontage road before rolling over.
