Afton, WY : Man killed in motorcycle-truck crash obstructed tail lights might have played role on Saturday October 4th 2014

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says mud-caked turn signals and brake lights may have contributed to a fatal crash south of Afton. Sgt. David Wagener says 45-year-old Craig E. Shymko, of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, was riding his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 89 on Saturday when he tried to pass a pickup truck in front of him. Investigators believe that because the rear lights of the pickup were obscured, Shymko did not realize the truck was turning left until it was too late. Shymko laid his bike on its side and crashed into the truck. He was pronounced dead a hospital. The driver of the truck was not injured. As winter approaches, authorities are reminding drivers to clean the mud and snow off all the lights on their vehicles.
