Pine Bluff, AR : Illinois man killed in pedestrian accident at White Hall Thursday on April, Thursday 6th 2017

An Illinois man was killed Thursday morning when he was hit by a vehicle while crossing a roadway at White Hall.

Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley identified the man as Matthew Waters, 43, of Fairfield, Illinois, who was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Jefferson Regional Medical Center at 8:26 a.m. The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma.

White Hall Police Investigator Sgt. Mickey Buffkin said Waters had left the Super 8 Motel and was walking across Hospitality Drive toward the back parking lot of the Big Red Travel Plaza, where his truck was parked, when he was hit by a pickup truck that was traveling on Hospitality Drive.

The accident occurred between 6:15 and 6:30 a.m., Buffkin said.

Buffkin said the accident is still under investigation until all the reports have been completed.'

No citations were issued.

Kelley said the body will be sent back to Illinois for burial.
