A 78-year-old man died Monday afternoon after the car in which he was a passenger was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Greene Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said.
The man, who was not identified in a state police news release, was pronounced dead after he was taken to Chambersburg Hospital following the 1:34 p.m. crash.
The man was a passenger in a northbound Cadillac driven by a 73-year-old Florida woman, police said.
The woman lost control of the Cadillac, which traveled through the center median and into the southbound lanes of I-81, the release said.
A southbound tractor-trailer driven by a 44-year-old Pennsylvania man then struck the front end of the Cadillac on the west shoulder near Exit 17 for Walker Road, police said.
The Florida woman was flown to Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, and the Pennsylvania man was uninjured, the release said.
The identities of the two drivers also were not released by state police.
