Manatee County, FL : Pedestrian killed in collision on State Road 64 on Tuesday morning, February 2, 2016

A driver was charged with careless driving after a traffic crash that killed a pedestrian on State Road 64 on Tuesday morning.

A Florida Highway Patrol report said Elizabeth Joann Ganim, 18, of Fort Myers was driving a car in the westbound lane of SR 64 heading toward the intersection of Greyhawk Boulevard. A pedestrian standing in the grass median was looking north on S.R. 64 just west of Greyhawk Boulevard.

Ganim and the pedestrian did not see each other, and the pedestrian walked into the path of the car and was hit. There were no visible skid marks found on the road from Ganim’s vehicle.
