Reno, NV : One person dead in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 80 in Reno on Monday evening, April 27, 2015
A man died after suffering severe head injuries in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 80 in Reno on Monday evening.
Two motorcyclists were traveling at a high rate of speed on I-80 westbound between Sierra Street and Keystone Avenue.
One of the motorcyclists lost control, crashed into a guardrail and was thrown from the bike.
He died upon impact.
His name is not immediately known.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating.
“When you have a motorcycle that weighs upwards of a 1,000 pounds traveling at over 120 to 150 mph, and you lose control of it, it’s like a missile ....” NHP Sgt. Eddie Bowers said. “It’s a tragedy that can be avoided just by everybody obeying the rules of the road.”
The other motorcyclist stayed on-scene while officers continued their investigation.
