Topeka, KS : One killed, one hurt in crash near Garden City on Wednesday, November 23rd 2016

A 24-year-old man was killed in a crash Wednesday night south of Garden City, and another driver was injured in the crash.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, Kyle Pelton, 24, of Ulysses, was driving a car west on Plymell Road and failed to stop at a stop sign where the road intersects with U.S. 83 at about 8:20 p.m.

A southbound semi-truck driven by Matthew L. Cook, 46, of Mulvane, struck the passenger side of Pelton’s car.

Pelton was taken to St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City but died of his injuries. Cook also was taken to St. Catherine Hospital with injuries.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, both drivers were wearing seat belts.
