Mentor , OH : 2 injured in 3-car crash on Route 2 on Sunday afternoon June 28 ,2015
Two people were taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon after a three-car crash on Route 2, police said.
Police received a call at 1:19 p.m. about a disabled minivan in the westbound lane of Route 2 between routes 306 and 615, police Sgt. Dustin Richards said.
Richards said while police were enroute to the scene, a car driven by two men crashed into the disabled minivan, which was not occupied when it was struck. The two men, of Painesville, were injured.
Police say soon after, a third car then hit the minivan. No one in the third car was injured.
The two Painesville men were taken to local hospitals, with one taken to Hillcrest Hospital and the other taken to Lake Health - West Medical Center initially by ambulance. A city spokesperson said one person was flown to a hospital by medical helicopter.
Two of the three westbound lanes on Route 2 were closed for around three hours due to the crash, according to police.
Police said names of those injured and their conditions are not being released at this time.
