CONCORD, CA : Police chase ends in crash; suspect escapes on foot on Saturday, February 25th 2017
A driver who tried to flee officers in a car before crashing it into another parked vehicle eluded police Sunday morning.An officer spotted the 1990s black Honda Civic around 12:03 a.m. in the 2900 block of Monument Boulevard and a check on it revealed that it had been stolen, according to a statement from Concord police. The Honda then took off when the officer turned on his patrol car lights.
The pursuit didn’t last long, and the Honda crashed into a vehicle parked at the intersection of Virginia and Robin lanes. The driver ran away after the crash.
Police surrounded the area and checked on back yards in the area, while a California Highway Patrol helicopter searched from above. Despite the efforts, the suspect escaped. Police did not provide a suspect description or a gender.
The Honda had been reported stolen a few hours earlier and was slightly damaged in the crash along with the other vehicle, police said.
