Incline Village,NV : Bear euthanized after found with injuries from car crash on Highway 28 in Incline Village on may, Wednesday 31th 2017
A bear was euthanized after it was found early Wednesday morning with serious injuries sustained from being struck by a car, according to authorities.
Washoe County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of an injured bear lying in the roadway on Highway 28, south of Incline Village at approximately 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31.
Deputies located a 3-year-old female bear in the Memorial Point area south of Sand Harbor.
Police observed that the bear had been badly injured after being struck by an unknown vehicle. The bear was breathing but was unable to move.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife was notified and deputies consulted with NDOW biologist over the phone as he responded to the location.
Authorities said they determined the most humane course of action would be to put down the bear to stop its suffering.
