Indianapolis, IN : Man killed in crash on I-65 on city's northwest side on Monday, November 14, 2016
61-year-old Kerry Dunlavey of Rossville, Indiana died in a crash around 5:30 a.m. Monday on I-65 near the 71st Street exit on Indianapolis' northwest side.
The car was traveling in the southbound lanes near Eagle Creek Park.
Police say the car, a convertible, was traveling at a high rate of speed when is side-swiped another vehicle, driven by 22-year-old Demetrius Jordan of Indianapolis, and went off the roadway. It went down into a ditch, up the other side and jumped a four-foot fence. While airborne, the convertible hit a tree, causing it to flip.
Jordan called police. He was not injured.
Fire officials pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
