A two-vehicle accident on Route 220 night left one man dead and three other individuals with suspected minor injuries.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, Marissa S. Watkins, 22, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer south on Route 220 when she attempted to turn left into a driveway, crossed into the northbound travel lane, and hit head on a 2003 Buick Lesabre driven by Thomas J. Cox, 60.
Watkins’ vehicle spun 180-degrees backward and landed sideways facing north on the southbound lane. Cox’s vehicle — also holding passengers William L. Schrader, 65, and Melissa R. Thompson, 47 — went off the shoulder of the road into a front yard and struck a concrete step and metal railing attached to a residence’s carport before coming to a stop.
None of the individuals involved were wearing seatbelts. Watkins, Schrader and Thompson were transported from the scene for possible minor injuries. Cox was transported to Towanda Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead by Coroner Tim Cahill Jr.
