Three people, including two Medic responders, were transported to area hospitals after a crash in east Charlotte Sunday night.
The crash happened just before 11:30 p.m. on Independence Boulevard near Sharon Amity Road. Officials said the Medic ambulance was going through the intersection with lights and sirens on when it was struck by another vehicle.
After being struck, the ambulance then hit an SUV that was stopped at the red light.
Two Medic responders and one other patient were taken to Carolinas Medical Center with injuries. All three are expected to be okay. No names have been released.
Two other patients were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
It is not if any charges are being filed.
