Blackwell, OK : One dead, one critically injured after rollover crash in Kay County early Thursday, May 12, 2016
One person was killed and another was critically injured when they were ejected from a pickup that overturned in Kay County early Thursday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
A 1987 Chevrolet pickup was heading south on 44th Street just west of Blackwell when it ran off the right side of the road about 2:40 a.m. The vehicle then re-entered the roadway and rolled once, according to an OHP report.
Both occupants were ejected. Neither was wearing a seat belt, troopers reported.
The passenger was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver was flown to a hospital in Wichita, Kansas, in critical condition.
The names of the victims had not been released by late Thursday, but the report says they are from Blackwell.
