Phoenix, AZ : Three adults and five children injured in a afternoon two-vehicle collision at 22nd Avenue and Jefferson Street On Sunday May 8th, 2016
A two-vehicle collision sent eight people to the hospital, including five children, on Sunday afternoon, Phoenix fire officials said.
The crash occurred at 22nd Avenue and Jefferson Street in Phoenix.
The collision involved an SUV and a van and none of the children, some of whom were in each vehicle, were properly restrained, said Capt. Aaron Ernsberger, a Phoenix Fire Department spokesman.
"It's very unfortunate that both vehicles had children in them," Ernsberger said.
The children's ages range from 2 to 9 years old, Ernsberger said.
Two of the three adults were taken to level-one trauma centers with serious injuries, according to Ernsberger. Three of the five children were transported as well; however, none of the injuries are life-threatening, Ernsberger said.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation by the Phoenix Police Department.
