MENDON, IL : Quincy man suffers serious injuries in crash near Mendon on Thursday, 26th April 2018

A Quincy man suffered serious injuries after he lost control of his car early Thursday morning near Mendon, police said.

The Adams County Sheriff's Department said Lon E. Cornwell, 58, was driving a Lincoln west on Ill. 61 at East 900th at 4:16 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to go down an embankment on the north side of the road and overturn.

Cornwell was taken to Blessing Hospital for treatment.

Police said Cornwell was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, operating a vehicle with no insurance and no valid registration.

Assisting at the scene were the Adams County Ambulance and the Mendon Fire Department.
