CUMBERLAND, MD : Motorcyclist seriously injured in interstate crash on Thursday, August 10, 2017

A city man suffered serious injuries early Thursday when his motorcycle traveled out of control and crashed on eastbound Interstate 68 at the Industrial Boulevard exit ramp, Cumberland police said.

Garrett Glenn Appel, 26, was taken to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by a Cumberland Fire Department ambulance for treatment, police said.

The 12:15 a.m. accident remains under investigation by Cumberland Police with the assistance of an accident reconstruction specialist with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office.

The crash closed the eastbound lanes for about an hour, police said.
