Reading, PA : 61-year-old woman killed in a four-vehicle accident on Thursday, September 28th 2017
State police said Thursday that Sandra L. Wummer of Denver was the 61-year-old woman killed in a four-vehicle accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Caernarvon Township.
Wummer was pronounced dead at the scene of the 10:15 a.m. Wednesday crash, according to the Berks County coroner's office.
An autopsy was conducted in Reading Hospital. Further information was not available.The driver of another vehicle, Gloria A. Belair, 71, Annville, Lebanon County, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Reading Hospital.
According to troopers at Bowmansville:
The crash occurred as traffic was slowing in a work zone on the eastbound side of the turnpike.
A commercial vehicle driven by Sarbjit Singh, 36, of Bellerose, N.Y., was traveling at a high speed and hit Wummer's vehicle as she was slowing down. Singh was not injured.
Wummer's car struck the rear of Belair's vehicle, which hit a vehicle driven by Shane A. Mrakovich, 55, of Elizabethtown, Lancaster County.
All the drivers were wearing seat belts.
Wummer was the 43rd person to die this year as a result of crashes on Berks roads.
