Charlotte County, FL: 25-years-old Andrew Toner critically injured in U.S. 41 on Thursday, August 6th 2015

A man riding a motorized bicycle was critically injured in a crash Thursday morning on U.S. 41 in Port Charlotte.Andrew Toner, 25, of Port Charlotte was riding on a motorized bicycle when he attempted to cross U.S. 41 south of Elkcam Boulevard. Anthony M. Maiello, 49, of Port Charlotte was driving a Dodge Ram truck south on U.S. 41.Toner's bike traveled into the path of Maiello's vehicle; he attempted to stop, but collided with the bike.Toner was critically injured and was flown by helicopter to Lee Memorial Hospital. He was not wearing a helmet.The accident shut down part of U.S. 41 for about an hour Thursday morning.
