QUINCY, MA : 2 killed in single-car crash on Route 3A in Quincy on Thursday, 25th April 2019

Two Weymouth men were killed Thursday when the car they were in crashed into a pedestrian ramp under the Neponset Bridge along Route 3A in Quincy, state police said.The single-car crash happened at 10:40 a.m. at the concrete pedestrian walkway that connects the Quincy Riverwalk to the Neponset Bridge.

State police said a 74-year-old man was driving and a 50-year-old man was a passenger. Both men were from Weymouth.

Pictures from the scene show a 2004 Ford Taurus sedan wedged under the ramp.

Deputy Fire Chief Tim Churchill confirmed to the Patriot Ledger that two men inside the car died upon impact with the bridge.

The car appeared to have been traveling north on Hancock Street when it left the roadway and collided with the bridge just after Neponset Landing at 2 Hancock St. That portion of Hancock Street is one way and turns into a sharp 180-degree turnaround as it approaches the Neponset River, the paper reported.
