Urbana,IL : Injuries sustained in car crash caused man's death on April, Sunday 22th 2018

Preliminary information from an autopsy conducted over the weekend indicates that traumatic injuries caused the death of a Newman man.

Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup said an autopsy was performed Saturday in Urbana for Clayton P. Garwood, 44, who listed an address in Newman.

Northrup said on Sunday that preliminary information from the autopsy indicates Mr. Garwood died as a result of traumatic injuries sustained in a single motor vehicle crash on Illinois 49 at County Road 200 N in Allerton early Saturday morning.


Mr. Garwood was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:05 a.m. Saturday, Northrup said.

The crash is under investigation by Northrup's office and the Illinois State Police.
